What is SUMMA?

SUMMA: A Student Theological Debate Society  offers high school students (entering grades 9-12) a uniquely meaningful experience including:

Tournament

  • Tools for thinking,
  • Knowledge of the Christian theological tradition
  • Skill in public speaking and debate, and
  • Cutting-edge engagement with topics such as religion and science, social ethics, and interfaith relations.

This comes with fun, friendship, and the opportunity for a deepened and more thoughtful faith.

SUMMA began as a pilot project in 2012 with students from Arkansas and Mississippi. With camp July 21-29, 2015 SUMMA will open as an ongoing program of The Beecken Center of The School of Theology, University of the South, welcoming student debaters from around the south, across the country, and throughout the world!

More information about 2015 Camp, including an application, is available on our 2015 Camp page; and by emailing the Rev. Cindy Fribourgh, or calling (501) 580-9066.
