“Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife” Book Study

A book study of Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife by Eben Alexander, M.D. will be held on Wednesday mornings January 23 through February 13 from 10:30 until 11:45 at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Canon Christoph Keller, Th.D. will lead the class.

The book study is free, and limited to 15 participants. Register by email at cf.itssm@gmail.com.

Dr. Alexander is a neurosurgeon with an academic career that includes 15 years teaching at Harvard Medical School. In 2008, he suffered an extremely rare case of E. coli bacterial meningitis, lying near death in a deep coma for a week. Then he recovered, emerging to tell what near-death researcher Dr. Bruce Greyson has described as “a gripping story, unique in the literature of spiritual experiences.” Dr. Alexander’s experience was the subject of a recent Newsweek cover story titled “Heaven is Real.”

The ITSSM is hosting a symposium, “Near-Death Experience in Christian Perspective,” April 19-20. This book study offers an advance opportunity to learn about these experiences and raise the questions, scientific and theological, we face in their interpretation.
